"Batman Forever" has really been shaken up since out last issue. In the beginning days of July, it was announced that Michael Keaton "decided" to bow out of the Batman role. Val Kilmer was then named as the replacement. Next, rumors flew that Rene Russo, slated as Keaton's love interest, might be replaced to better reflect the younger Batman (though I'm even younger than Kilmer and wouldn't mind Ms. Russo at all). Latest buzz places Sandra Bullock (of "Demolition Man" and this year's smash "Speed") on the top of the list for the role. Chris O'Donnell is a lock for the boy wonder. After a little digging, I discovered that Michael Keaton didn't really decide much. Warner Brothers was unwilling to come up with the $10 million price tag Keaton put out there. Neither side would bend, and now Mr. Keaton is out of a job. (He'll be able to find something I'm sure.) Filming is slated for September 21. They will be shooting in New York and the director will be Joel Schumacher (NOT TIM BURTON, as many have thought). There could be even more changes--so stay tuned in.
NEWS FLASH! I just got word before sending this document that Sandra Bullock may have been passed over for Nicole Kidman. Nicole is definitely in Batman Forever, and may very well have taken the role intended originally for Rene Russo.
The original Darkman, Liam Neeson, got married this month.

I must credit Edward Chuang Wang (Address: edwang@leland.Stanford.EDU) for the following tidbit:
Jeremy Irons has been cast as the villainous Simon in Die Hard 3, to be directed by John McTiernan and starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. Production begins the end of this month in New York City.
Sam Raimi's western "The Quick and the Dead," starring Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, and Leonardo DiCaprio, has been pushed back to next winter because the
studio is worried about the number of westerns coming out this summer.

Dick Sargent, the 2nd Darrin of Bewitched, died early in July.
Marco Brambilla, who directed Demolition Man, will take a crack at a sequel to American Werewolf in London. The name? How about American Werewolf in Paris. France is scary enough, in my humble opinion.
No Escape's director, Martin Campbell, has been given the nod to lens Pierce Brosnan's introduction as 007 in Golden Eye. Rumors to John Glen's departure from the Bond family (which I think I even speculated in) apparently were on the money.
Scott Bakula is staying busy by leaping into a voice role in the animated feature "Cats Don't Dance." Yes, he will put that big Broadway voice to work in this one.
Mel Gibson in a new adaption of Fahrenheit 451? I WISH I made this one up!
